Stunning photos show Africa’s VERY varied landscapes

From golden safari plains to lush valleys and otherworldly deserts, Africa boasts some of the world’s most varied landscapes as these stunning photographs show.

In Egypt, the White Desert is home to a collection of bizarre wind-eroded rock formations, while Ethiopia’s Danakil Depression is one of the hottest, driest and lowest places on the planet.

Other natural wonders include Lake Natron in the Great Rift Valley on the border between Tanzania and Kenya, which has a blood-red colour due to a type of algae that loves the unusually salty water.

And on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, the Victoria Falls makes for a spectacular display as the world’s largest curtain of water, measuring an impressive 5,604 feet wide and 354 feet high.

On the man-made front, the Pyramids in Egypt are one of the continent’s most-visited curiosities, while the abandoned medieval fortress of Shali close to Libya is another point of interest.
