Lamborghini hired for wedding races through police speed trap then explodes into fireball when it hits parked VW Golf

  • A Lamborghini exceeded a speed limit at 10.30pm on Wakefield Road, Bradford
  • The green sports car then crashed into a parked VW Golf before hitting a Kia 
  • The Lamborghini’s owner, 25, suffered head injuries and remains at hospital
  • Meanwhile the Golf passenger had minor injuries and has been discharged
  • Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101 quoting log 1901 

A Lamborghini hired for a wedding exploded into a fireball when it smashed into a parked VW Golf. 

Officers were checking motorists’ speed in the area and said the hired car exceeded the 40mph limit at around 10.30pm in Bradford last night.     

The green Lamborghini crashed into a parked VW Golf, which had a motorist inside, causing it to hit an unoccupied Kia.

Officers were checking motorists’ speed in the area and said the hired car exceeded the 40mph limit at around 10.30pm in Bradford, last night

A 25-year-old man suffered head injuries and remains at Leeds General Infirmary while his female passenger, 25, suffered minor injuries and has been discharged. 

The male driver of the VW Golf suffered minor injuries.  

Emergency services, including doctors and ambulances, attended the scene at around 10.30pm and officers ran on foot to offer first aid after the collision.   

West Yorkshire Police said the incident had been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, although there was no pursuit of the Lamborghini at the time. 

There were 8,000 crashes in Bradford over the course of 12 months, with the city averaging 22 every day between August 2017 and 2018, according to West Yorkshire Police figures.         

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact police on 101 quoting log 1901 of 15 February.
