Are these Britain’s dirtiest housemates? Couple who live in filthy bedroom do laundry once a MONTH

A couple whose bedroom is strewn with rubbish, mouldy takeaway boxes and soiled underwear admit they only do laundry once a month – and often buy new clothes instead of putting on a wash.

Sarah and Jordan, from Belfast, who share their fly-infested home with another couple, Paddy and Ciaran, feature on new BBC Three series Fight Dirty.

The show pits two sets of extremely mucky housemates against each other by making them clean each other’s rancid homes in five hours, with a prize of £1,000 up for grabs for the team who make the biggest improvement.

Sarah, whose mother is a cleaner, admits she hates the smell of her dirty home, admitting: ‘You can feel it in your eyes, you can taste it, you just have to sit in it.’

She and boyfriend Jordan live among a mountain of rotting takeaways and rubbish, and their communal bathroom has also seen better days.

Admitting they are ‘lazy’, Sarah explained: ‘We order take outs, especially after a night out, you eat it in the room, and then it just kinda gets kicked about, and then it just kinda isn’t there anymore, and out of sight out of mind, that’s what I live by.’

Jordan added: ‘In the house we’re doing laundry once a month,’ to which Sarah replied: ‘To be fair, a lot of the time this year, we bought new clothes instead of cleaning.’

They’re also not a fan of cooking, with Jordan using the oven purely to hide Sarah’s Christmas present and store bottles of Buckfast – a caffeinated fortified wine.

Four students, Matthew, Lorcan, Gavin and Ronan – who live in an equally disgusting rented property nearby – are tasked with cleaning up the couples’ home.

On entering the house, Ronan exclaimed: ‘The smell is absolutely awful. They must be absolute losers.

‘Whoever owns that food is an absolute disgrace. I don’t know how this person lives in here.’

Matthew added: ‘The taste of that smell has scared me for life. I thought we were bad but this is next level.’

Once in the bedroom, Gavin picked up a pair of once-white boxer shorts which he described as ‘crusty, mouldy, stinking’.

Ronan joked: ‘He’s done everything in those boxers.’

But the ‘party boys’ are not much better, with Sarah and Jordan and Paddy and Ciaran forced to unblock their kitchen sink which is full of vomit.

Speaking about their shared house, Gavin said: ‘If my mum or my dad were to walk into this house, they’d call me a disgrace. It’s minging.’

Both households get to work – but who will take home the £1,000 prize?
