A golden retriever has been filmed excitedly rolling in mud and left barely recognizable as she tried to cool down in the heat.

Ashley Rangel captured amusing footage of the dirty pooch wriggling around a pool of mud at the Hondo Dog Park in Hillsboro, Oregon.

She stretches out across the filthy patch of grass before giving a shake of his mud-soaked fur.

A hound watches from the side lines and starts furiously barking at the rolling pooch.

A golden retriever is filmed in utter bliss as she lies across a muddy stretch of grass at the Hondo Dog Park in Hillsboro, Oregon

The baffled dog’s owner can be heard describing his dog’s color as a ‘golden… well she was’ as other walkers break into laughter.

Seconds later, a caramel-covered dog comes ambling along to see what’s going on.

The curious dog, who is happily wagging his tail, gives the retriever a sniff, in the clip from June.

They check each other out for a brief moment, before the pup wanders away.

She doesn’t hold back as she makes a beeline for throwing himself on to the mucky patch and playing in the dirt.

Ashley said: ‘The person that opened [the park] didn’t get the memo that they were supposed to keep it closed that day.

‘The parks staff came into the park right after I filmed this and kicked us all out.’

The animal lover said her own dog does not necessarily enjoy mud the same way this golden retriever does.

‘My dog, Piper, wouldn’t stop barking at the muddy dog, like, ‘What are you doing! You’re going to get in so much trouble!’
