A clever mother who was tired of her husband and children hogging the entire bed has revealed how she created a 9ft-wide sleeping space on a budget.

UK mother-of-two Natalie Pavitt revealed she used two divan beds with no-slip mattresses in order to create the large bed, which only cost her £440 to make, including the cost of delivery.

Natalie, who shared her idea and result with the Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It Facebook group, explained she had been quoted £2,000 for a similar custom-made bed, and decided to do it herself for a lesser price.

People were impressed with how well the two £216 divan beds fitted together, after Natalie explained she joined them using two double sheets, two king-sized duvets and eight pillows.

Natalie explained the two divan beds she had bought completely fitted with each other, meaning no one could fall in the middle.

‘You can lay on the join and not know any different,’ she wrote.

Natalie said that she needed the extra sleeping space because her husband likes to spread out in bed like a starfish, while their two-year-old daughter jumps in for a cuddle early in the morning.

Meanwhile, Natalie is still breastfeeding their youngest child, making it all rather crowded.

Members of Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It loved the idea, with many saying they’d love to have such a large bed.

‘I am so doing this,’ one said, while another described it as her ‘dream’.

‘I am extremely jealous of this. If my bedroom was big enough I’d do this in a heartbeat. My husband still reckons he would have no room. A Jack Russell, a Cocker Spaniel and an English Setter, no kids, but I love to starfish. He said we would take the room up,’ wrote one.

One woman with five children, three dogs and a cat said she had already asked her husbands to build her a bed like this, and that he had thought she was joking. ‘I need this bed,’ she wrote.
