Well, it is a STEP ladder! Astonishing moment ladder walks along by itself

Well, it is a STEP ladder! Astonishing moment ladder walks along by itself (but there is simple explanation why)

  • A step ladder seemed to walk by itself in bizarre clip filmed in a parking garage
  • The eight-foot ladder almost had a mind of its own as it shuffled across the floor
  • Its legs jumped into the air in unison as it moved across black-painted concrete
  • Gravitational pull on ladders when on slopes can be known to cause the motion

A step-ladder appeared to walk away from handymen as they worked in a parking garage in India – but there’s actually a simple reason why.

The piece of equipment seemed to have a mind of its own as something sparked it into motion in the underground car park in the city of Hyderabad.

It is likely the force of gravity place on the ladder where it was placed on a slope could actually be the cause of the movement.

It was placed on a black painted slope, connecting two levels of the car park, when the workers noticed it making a clattering noise.

They watched as the ladder slowly made its way across the concrete.

The eight-foot ladder, which was captured moving on November 5 last year, shuffled from side-to-side as each leg jumped from the ground.

An explanation into this kind of phenomenon has been offered before, after a step ladder in Kerala made a similar motion when placed on a slope.

Worried locals started to worship the ladder in an effort to appease what they thought was a wayward spirit in 2018.

But one Reddit-user explained the ladder was actually moved by the gravitation pull working on it when it was placed on a slope and then gently nudged.

They penned: ‘The ladder is on a floor that has an incline. Someone nudges the ladder so that it starts rocking.

‘The force of gravity working through the incline is just enough so the ladder keeps rocking but not so much that the rocking gets larger and the ladder falls over.

‘The structure and “spring” of the ladder balanced with the forces pulling it downwards.’

Describing the video, a caption read: ‘A step ladder “walks” on its own in a parking garage.’

One comment said: ‘That ladder is off to find a union job.’

While another added: ‘Me: What are you talking about, I can clearly see a small child moving the ladder.

‘Person: But there is no child in the video.

‘Me: [ghost emoji].’
