The Masked Singer is moving filming to Melbourne due to security issues

So long Sydney! The Masked Singer is moving filming to Melbourne due to issues with ‘security’ after being forced out of Fox Studios

The Masked Singer judges Lindsay Lohan, Danni Minogue, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson and Dave Hughes boast some serious star power – but it appears they are no match for Marvel’s superheroes.

The Channel 10 program has been forced to look for a new home after Marvel took over Fox Studios in Moore Park, where the show is usually filmed, for the next two years.

And while other shows like The Voice have relocated to studios in Sydney’s Western Suburbs, a Network 10 executive has told TV Tonight that wouldn’t be possible for the quirky show due to issues with ‘security’.

Ten’s Chief Content Officer Beverley McGarvey told the publication that the studio in Sydney’s Moorebank is far too accessible, which could lead to the secret identity of the celebrity singers being unmasked.

The program, which is hosted by Osher Gunsberg, is expected to move to Docklands in Melbourne to film its second season.

It is the same venue that the network also moved production of Dancing With The Stars to at the start of the year.

Despite speculation that Lindsay Lohan wouldn’t be returning as a judge, the network quashed those rumours last year.

In October, McGarvey told News.com.au: ‘Despite what you may have read, we will have exactly the same judging lineup and exactly the same host.’

McGarvey said the network is ‘thrilled [all the judges] are coming back’, adding that season two of The Masked singer ‘will be really exciting’.

The show sees anonymous stars take to the stage in elaborate animal costumes, leaving viewers to guess the identity of the singers.

The first season saw Cody Simpson emerge from the Robot costume.

The 22-year-old took home the win, with Rob Mills’ Wolf coming in second and Gorgi Coghlan’s Monster coming in third.

Meanwhile, Marvel will produce Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Thor: Love and Thunder at Fox Studios.

Chris Hemsworth confirmed Thor would be filmed in Sydney during a press conference last year.

‘Its an interesting feeling after Avengers: Endgame because it was like, where do you go from there? But it’s about making great films and to still be a part of the Marvel-Disney family and to be able to make another film is fantastic,’ he said.
