Lindsay Lohan set to star in supernatural thriller Cursed opposite Mickey Rourke


Lindsay Lohan is set to join the cast of the new supernatural thriller Cursed. 

The 33-year-old actress is in final negotiations to co-star opposite Mickey Rourke according to The Hollywood Reporter. 

Lindsay will play police detective Mary Branigan, who teams up with renowned psychiatrist Dr. David Elder (Rourke), to stop an escaped psychiatric patient from killing five people held hostage in a remote house.

The movie has been written by Ian Holt and is set to be directed by Steven R. Monroe. 

Angel Oak Films and Alt House Productions will produce and principal photography is set to begin this summer. 

Lindsay has developed a series of nightclubs and resorts in Greece since 2016 – but recently revealed her plans to return to the USA to focus on acting work and managing her sister Ali’s career.

Speaking about her career ambitions, the Mean Girls star said: ‘I’m managing my sister, so I want to really focus on me and everything that I can do in my life and come back to America and start filming again, which I’m doing something soon in this new year.’

Lindsay revealed she was keen to reclaim her old life. She said: ‘[I am planning on] just taking back the life I’ve worked so hard for and sharing it with my family and you guys.’ 

Lindsay had previously teased fans with the possibility of new music.

Last month the actress responded to an Instagram user’s post hoping for new music from her, saying it looks like she will have new material out by the end of next month. 

The fan account Worldoflindsaylohan on Instagram Wednesday shared a shot of Lohan onstage, adding a message hopeful she would add to her musical catalog about four months after she released her first song in more than a decade.

‘Hope we get LL3 this year @lindsaylohan!’ a post from the site read, to which the New York native replied, ‘End of feb!’

Lohan’s last musical release came with the September EDM single Xanax, in which Lindsay touched on everything to the Los Angeles nightlife to living with social anxiety.

Lohan, who worked on the single with Alma, included the lyrics: ‘I don’t like the parties in L.A., I go home, in a bad mood, pass out, wake up alone, just to do it all over again. I got social anxiety, but you’re like Xanax to me/ I got social anxiety when you kiss me I can’t breathe.’

The star added a caption to a post of the music video for the track in which she opened up about virtues she felt important.

‘Family, love, the process of moving forward and letting go of the past,’ she wrote. ‘To live and be happy, free of fear. Just to be grateful and open our eyes to our opportunities instead of numbing the mind.’

Prior to the single’s release, her most recent track came with 2008’s Bossy, which in 2008 reached the number one spot on the Billboard Dance Club Hit chart. 

Her singles Rumors, Over and Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father) was also commercially successful.

In May, she took to social media with shots of herself working in a music studio, and the following month, she inked a deal with Casablanca Records, a subsidiary of Republic Records, to revive her career in music.

The former child star has been busy, as in 2019 she starred in the MTV reality show Lindsay Lohan Beach Club and was announced to be a judge on Masked Singer Australia.
