If you are looking for scented whites this spring try one of these often overlooked bargains

Spring is round the corner, and it’s time to crack open the scented whites. While some grapes such as Gewürztraminer and Torrontes have the aromatic impact of a ram raid on the Duty Free perfume counter, others are more subtle. 

Yet these are the wines that are often overlooked. Take Viognier. It deserves far more acclaim for its gorgeous apricot-peach blossom loveliness. And it happens to be an immense pairing with chicken korma – grab Domaine Saint Ferreol Viognier 2017 (13%) at Majestic, from £12.99. 

English Bacchus is another wine that rocks my world, with its spring-like aroma of elderflower and ravishing refreshment. Chapel Down, Flint Vineyard, Camel Valley, New Hall all produce good British examples, or grab the Exquisite Collection Lyme Block 2018 (12%) from Aldi for £9.99.
