Video of man urinating on Northern Line London Underground in front of passengers

Shocking video footage shows a young man urinating on a London Underground train in front of horrified passengers.

Hilary Freeman, 48, was on a Northern Line train from Camden Town to Bank on Saturday afternoon when she noticed a group of five men in their twenties drinking and being loud.

They started walking back and forth between the carriages via the emergency doors so she told them to stop.

Just as they were pulling into Kings Cross, one barged past her and turned towards the closed doors with a bottle of beer in his hand.

When he turned back around, she realised he was exposing himself and urinating all over the doors.

Horrified, she pulled out her phone to film him, but he carried on regardless.

She told MailOnline: ‘I couldn’t believe what was happening. I took the video to try to make him stop. They were so brazen.’

Hilary Freeman, 48, of north London, was with her partner on the way to Limehouse, east of the capital when the incident unfolded around 12.20pm

The journalist, of north London, was with her partner on the way to Limehouse, east of the capital, when the incident unfolded around 12.20pm.

She explained: ‘I was sat down with my partner when a group of men in their early twenties started walking back and forth through the doors that separate the carriages, which you’re not supposed to do.

‘They were quite rowdy so I said: ‘You’re not supposed to do that,’ but they were quite mouthy back.

‘One of them walked right past me towards the door and just as we were pulling up to King’s Cross he just started p***ing.’

In the video, one of the man’s friends is heard saying: ‘Put down your camera’, while another says: ‘Why are you filming?’

She added: ‘I got my phone out to try and stop him from doing it, but he just turned around and didn’t say anything.’

‘Two of his friends who were stood there laughing went to sit down so I said to them: ‘He can’t do that, why didn’t you say anything?’

‘They just said: ‘If he needs a p*** he will have a p***.

‘I said: ‘That’s illegal,’ but they just replied: ‘He wouldn’t listen to us.’

Ms Freeman reported the incident to British Transport Police before posting the footage on Twitter, sparking outrage among users and getting thousands of views.

The caption read: ‘Yesterday, I saw this at 12.20pm on Northern Line at Kings X. This shameless ‘man’ was unapologetic, arrogant and rude.

‘No care for the public, the law or hygiene – viruses also carried in urine. No fear. no respect.’

Ms Freeman was shocked that only one other person in the carriage said anything, claiming everyone else just ‘looked away embarrassed’.

She said: ‘I felt a bit like their mum telling them off, but they just didn’t care.

‘They were drinking on the Tube and being lairy. They were leaving the doors open, which was dangerous.

‘I took the video to make him stop. I wasn’t planning on posting it, but they were so brazen. I was so angry.

‘People on the Tube looked annoyed at me for saying something.

‘But the only reason people get away with stuff like this is because no one says anything.’

The journalist also slammed the man for the timing of the incident.

She added: ‘He sprayed wee all over the doors and at a time when we’re all being told to wash our hands… it’s disgusting.

‘It’s completely irresponsible.

‘He should learn to have a bit of respect, for other people, for property and for himself.

‘And if he can’t handle that amount of drink he shouldn’t drink that much. It’s not normal behaviour’.

A Transport for London spokesman apologised for the man’s behaviour, replying to Ms Freeman’s tweet: ‘Hi Hilary, I hope that you’re OK.

‘Personally I’m absolutely shocked and appalled how some people are willing to degreade themselves at the expense of other people’s mental well being.

‘Enjoy the rest of your day. Take care.’

A British Transport Police spokesman said: ‘Officers are aware of a video on social media showing a man urinating on a Northern Line train.

‘Enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with information can contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 14 of 02/03/20.’
