‘No food, no juice’: Footy WAG Zoe Marshall has revealed she fasts for two weeks at a time

Zoe, 35, wrote in the caption: ‘Whenever I feel uncomfortable about doing something that’s when I know I’m getting called to do it.

‘Whether that’s fasting for two weeks (no food, no juice, sips of water only) or it’s sitting in zero degrees.’

Fasting is a diet method that involves restricting what you eat at different times of the day or the week, or not eating at all for lengthy periods of time.

Last year, one of Australia’s leading nutritionists Lee Holmes told FEMAIL that studies have found intermittent fasting can improve your metabolism.

She said it can revamp good gut bacteria and help shed a few kilos.

There are a number of different options available – the most popular of which is the 5:2 approach, which involves eating 25 per cent of the recommended calorie intake on two scheduled fasting days and eating normally for the other five days that week.

‘In my opinion, this is a great way to rest the digestive system. However, the food consumed on fasting days should be real wholefoods, not low-fat, processed junk-food, which a lot of people lean towards for convenience,’ Lee said.

‘By choosing sustainable, organic and real foods, you’ll get the most out of intermittent fasting practices.’

What is fasting?

Fasting is a diet method that involves restricting what you eat at different times of the day or the week.

One of Australia’s leading nutritionist Lee Holmes told FEMAIL that studies have found intermittent fasting can improve your metabolism.

She said it can revamp good gut bacteria and help shed a few kilos, but timing of eating is an issue.

The most popular fasting option is the 5:2 approach, which involves eating 25 per cent of the recommended calorie intake on two scheduled fasting days and eating normally for the other five days that week.

Elsewhere in Zoe’s post, she said the ice bath had helped her focus on breathing. She also described the experience as ‘quiet spiritual’.

Zoe is no stranger to alternative health methods. Back in 2017, she admitted to going on an extreme diet to help her get pregnant.

‘I went to on a radical Chinese program and you don’t eat for two weeks to give your body an overhaul and help your organs regenerate,’ she said on The Morning Show at the time.

This extreme detox typically involves no food for a fortnight, with followers only consuming a herbal drink three times a day.

Zoe and Benji welcomed their first child, son Benjamin Fox, in March 2018.
