Things got awkward when Cassandra Thorburn was doing the promotional rounds for her new podcast Divorce Story: Surviving Separation on Wednesday.
During an interview on The Daily Edition, the 48-year-old journalist was presented with a loaded question from host Sally Obermeder, who asked: ‘Do you think for women, the grief and pain is worse if the other party moves on first? Or is it less if you move on first?
Cassandra said the pain of divorce is ‘the same for everyone’ no matter which partner moves on first, as her ex-husband Karl Stefanovic is now expecting a baby with designer Jasmine Yarbrough.

‘I think it’s the same for everyone. What about your friend? He spoke to us when he was left and his feeling,’ Cassandra continued, palming off the question to her podcast co-host Annaliese Dent.
Daily Edition host Ryan Phelan then asked another personal question to Cassandra.
‘Part of this is relaunching yourself again, isn’t it? Getting out there and dating and moving on? How are you going in that process?’ he asked.
Cassandra cheekily hit back: ‘Are you asking me out?’
‘I am happily spoken for!’ Ryan replied, laughing along with his co-host Sally.
‘Spoken for? Don’t speak for yourself!’ Cassandra joked.
Flirty! The desk was sent into fit of laughter when Daily Edition host Ryan Phelan (right) asked if Cassandra was dating again and she replied: ‘Are you asking me out?’
He’s taken, ladies! ‘I am happily spoken for!’ Ryan replied, laughing along with Sally
Rather than answering the question, Cassandra revealed that the fourth episode of their podcast will be about dating apps and getting back on the horse.
‘Nice way to dodge the question, by the way!’ Ryan said.
‘That can only mean yes!’ Sally said, hinting that Cassandra was dating once again.
In the first episode of Divorce Story, Cassandra revealed the ‘grief’ of her 2016 split from former husband Karl after 21 years of marriage, but insisted she is no longer in love with him.
‘People often say, are you over them? Yes I am over them,’ Cassandra said on the podcast, not mentioning Karl by name
‘I am over my ex-husband but it is about going through the grief of going through a divorce. Going through a divorce is really stressful, so that is something to grieve.’

Meanwhile, Karl is expecting a baby with Mara and Mine shoe designer Jasmine and has returned to hosting duties on the Today show.
On Monday, Jasmine, 35, shared a picture of herself cradling her bump as Karl, 45, put his arm around her waist.
