Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger looks awkwardly offended

Nicole Scherzinger looks awkward and offended during a trainwreck interview on The Project as she offers host Waleed Aly one-word answers

Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger has packed out stadiums, sold millions of albums and performed on London’s West End.

But on Wednesday, the 41-year-old singer was left unimpressed after a trainwreck TV interview in which she was asked if she ‘fights over tube tops’ with other women.

During an appearance on The Project, Nicole looked quite offended by a series of bizarre and poorly-researched questions.

That’s awkward: Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, 41, (pictured) looks awkwardly offended by bizarre ‘reductive’ questions during a cringe-worthy interview on The Project

‘When you guys are backstage, do you guys fight over who wore the best tube tops and low rise jeans?’ host Waleed Aly asked the accomplished performer.

Nicole appeared taken back by the odd question, with her offering a simple ‘no’ to the usually respected journalist.

The awkward moments continued as Waleed and co-host Carrie Bickmore then argued over telling Nicole what he thought lyrics to one of PCD’s hits were.

Huh? 'When you guys are backstage, do you guys fight over who wore the best tube tops and low rise jeans?' host Waleed Aly asked the accomplished performer

Waleed then strangely confessed that he thought the lyrics to hit ‘When I grow up’ were ‘I want to have boobies’ rather than groupies.

Nicole appeared puzzled by the somewhat ridiculous confession, mouthing ‘yeah cool,’ in a despondent way.

Attempting to get the interview back on track, Nicole went on to explain that a lot of fans think they are saying ‘boobies’ not ‘groupies’ due to the dance routine.

Later, she was asked about the group’s racy performance on UK X-Factor, which garnered a number of complaints due to the raunchy outfits.

‘We put that together in three days and those outfits were a bit provocative,’ Nicole said. ‘But we are women now…It takes courage to wear that stuff.’

‘We always do everything with confidence. We dancing hard like warriors.’

The interview awkwardly ended with music playing over the top of Nicole, with the show then cutting to a break.

Oh my! Fans raged on Twitter after the "reductive" interview

Following the interview, Twitter erupted in defense of Nicole who has sold 15 million albums and 40 million singles worldwide.

‘The Project is filled with a bunch of talentless left-wing try hards that try humour when it’s either inappropriate or simply not funny,’ one user wrote.

Another added: ‘The Project is a buffoons fest…utter superflogs stroking each other. Nicole is a class act.’

Yet another raged: ‘Nicole Scherzinger was just subjected to one of the most reductive interviews I’ve seen on the project.’
