Troian Bellisario and Patrick Dempsey sign on to star in CBS drama pilot Ways & Means

Troian Bellisario and Patrick Dempsey are looking to make a return to the small screen, with both actors being cast in Ways & Means.

The 34-year-old Bellisario and 54-year-old Dempsey have signed on to star in the politically-charged drama series, according to Deadline.

The show hails from SEAL Team showrunner Ed Redlich and former Republican political consultant Mike Murphy.

The show centers on a ‘powerful Congressional leader’ played by Dempsey, who has lost all faith in politics.

He finds himself covertly teaming up with a young woman (Bellisario) from the opposing political system.

They both work together to subvert the gridlocked political system and do so without getting caught by either one of their parties.

Bellisario’s Claire is described as a newly elected, ‘progressive, idealistic freshman Democratic Congresswoman.

She is said to lead with her, ‘intelligence and straightforwardness,’ as she tries to figure out, ‘how to merge her idealism with her ambition.’

Bellisario and Dempsey are joined by Amanda Warren, who plays Jerlene Brooks, a former community organizer and progressive activist.

Jerlene has risen to become a formidable Democratic congresswoman and rising star in the political arena. 

Redlich and Murphy wrote the pilot script, with Phil Abraham attached to direct the pilot episode.

Nina Tassler and Denise Di Novi will executive produce through their PatMa Productions, plus Tom Lassally of 3 Arts and Abraham and CBS TV Studios.

Bellisario recently starred in Where’d You Go, Bernadette and she stars in the upcoming action-comedy Chuck Hank and the San Diego Twins.

Dempsey stars in the upcoming series Devils and he is attached to return as Robert Philip in Disenchanted, a sequel to Enchanted.

No production schedule was given for Ways & Means.
