Drake’s OVO sues companies in LA and Australia saying they used the company’s owl logo

Drake’s OVO organization has sued companies in Los Angeles and Australia amid claims they used the company’s owl logo without authorization.

The company, which the 33-year-old rapper established 12 years ago in his native Toronto, filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against the Southern California-based Clae and the Australian organization Bellroy, according to TMZ.

The Canadian company in legal docs claimed that Bellroy and Clae, in an effort to confuse consumers, worked together on a shoe that featured a modified version of the emblem.

Bellroy and Clae ‘changed the design of the owl by altering its posture, width, wings and feet in order to blatantly mimic the OVO owl,’ OVO said in legal docs, according to the outlet.

In the suit, OVO said that Bellroy’s recent sales of clothes and footwear might impact its business, as it sells similar products. Bellroy also features wallets and smartphone cases with the insignia.

The God’s Plan performer, along with business partners Oliver El-Khatib and Noah Shebib, has had huge success with the OVO company since its inception 12 years ago.

The company under the rapper’s banner has branched out with endeavors in music, merchandising and marketing.

Last month, the Canadian women’s basketball team went 2-0 in uniforms designed by OVO and featuring the owl, qualifying for the Summer Games in Tokyo in FIBA’s Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgium.

Canada Basketball CEO Glen Grunwald told Sportsnet of the collaboration: ‘I think they want to support the women’s team, assist in the growth of women’s sports and help the women’s team move forward.

‘It’s a smart move for everybody.’
