She was first catapulted into the spotlight on Waterloo Road before taking to the cobbles of Coronation Street and bagging a National Television Award.

But Katie McGlynn shows no sign of slowing down after she stepped out on Saturday to attend the Christie Charity Ball at The Principle Hotel in Manchester.

The star, 26, sizzled as she flaunted her incredibly svelte frame in a blue silk maxi dress.

She cheekily flashed some skin in the lace-up backless number which she paired with silver, open-toe heels and an understated Yves Saint Laurent black clutch.

Katie’s platinum tresses were styled in soft waves with her beautiful features enhanced with smoky eye-shadow, fluttery lashes and rose lip gloss.

She posed up a storm on the red carpet with a playful glance over her shoulder before strutting into the venue.

Katie, who bagged the National Television Award for Serial Drama Performance for her role as Sinead Tinker in the ITV soap, recently went through a drastic body transformation, which she claimed has helped her to boost her self-esteem.

She revealed that before starting her fitness journey she struggled with comfort eating while filming scenes for her harrowing cervical cancer storyline.

Speaking candidly to Closer Magazine last month, she admitted she would eat sweet treats to help ‘cheer [her] up’ while she filmed the sad scenes.

She explained: ‘It was such a sad story to be taking part in. I was crying in nearly every scene and quite often I’d eat cake to cheer me up.

‘I was snacking on biscuits in the green room or eating flapjacks made by the crew when I was exhausted. I was eating so much sugar.’

Katie added that she would often share dessert with her co-star Rob Mallard, who plays her on-screen husband Daniel Osborne, and would ‘grab one for [herself]’.

She also revealed that after a busy schedule she would be ‘too lethargic and stressed’ to make healthy meals or control her portion sizes.

The blonde beauty explained: ‘When I got home, I’d be learning lines for the next day, so I didn’t have time to go to the gym or cook.

‘I’d try to order healthy takeaways but I’d end up ordering loads of sides, like halloumi and pots of chicken, and have it all in one go, instead of saving some for leftovers.’

Katie decided to enroll in a 12-week course with the Ultimate Performance Gym in Manchester after she had finished filming her final scenes on the soap to get back into shape.

The actress said: ‘It was hard work in the gym. I was there three times a week with a personal trainer but it was simple to follow the diet.’

‘After my programme is finished, I won’t stop. I’m going to carry on with it, because I have a taste for fitness now.’
