Billie Eilish strips down as she condemns body shamers in a powerful video during concert

Billie Eilish hit back at body shamers during night one of her Where Do We Go world tour in Miami on Monday.

The 18-year-old pop star made a poignant statement about clothing and self-empowerment in a video interlude during the kick-off concert at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.

The Bad Guy singer, who has previously admitted she dons baggy clothes to keep the attention away from her figure, made sure all the attention was on her while she slowly peeled off her clothes and mused about how: ‘If what I wear is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I am a slut.’

Not hiding: Billie Eilish hit back at body shamers during night one of her Where Do We Go world tour in Miami on Monday

During the performance itself, Eilish dressed her traditionally baggy clothes, with a loose-fitting green shirt that matched her shorts (and her hair) with black Nike high-top sneakers.

But in the clip, she made a point while baring all, only to sink down into a murky liquid.

Billie’s accompany speech, which was captured by fans who later shared it online, began: ‘Some people hate what I wear, some people praise it. Some people use it to shame others, some people use it to shame me.

‘While I feel your stares, your disapproval or your sighs of relief, if I lived by them, I’d never be able to move,’ she went on.

‘The body I was born with, is it not what you wanted?’ Billie wondered. ‘If what I wear is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I am a slut. Though you’ve never seen my body, you still judge it and judge me for it. Why?’

Billie opened up about how she uses her clothing to protect herself from judgement during a recent Calvin Klein ad.

‘I never want the world to know everything about me. I mean, that’s why I wear big, baggy clothes. Nobody can have an opinion because they haven’t seen what’s underneath, you know?’

‘Nobody can be like, “Oh, she’s slim-thick, she’s not slim-thick, she’s got a flat ass, she’s got a fat ass.” No one can say any of that, because they don’t know.’

In over her head: In the clip she made a point while baring all, only to sink down into a murky liquid

Lose-lose: 'The body I was born with, is it not what you wanted?' Billie wondered. 'If what I wear is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I am a slut. Though you¿ve never seen my body, you still judge it and judge me for it. Why?'

Though it’s clearly a message Eilish is passionate about, it remains to be seen if Eilish will play this video package throughout the duration of her tour, which will keep her on the road throughout the summer.

The North American leg of her tour kicked off Monday and wraps up April 17 at CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

She’ll take a month off and then play the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama, before the international leg of her tour that runs through early September.

Billie Eilish speech during Miami stop of Where Do We Go tour

you have opinions

about my opinions

about my music

about my clothes

about my body

some people hate what i wear

some people praise it

some people use it to shame others

some people use it to shame me

but i feel you watching

always

and nothing i do foes unseen

so while i feel your stares

your disapproval

or your sigh of relief

if i lived by them

I’d never be able to move

would you like me to be smaller?

weaker?

softer?

taller?

would you like me to be quiet?

do my shoulders provoke you?

does my chest?

am i my stomach?

my hips?

the body i was born with

is it not what you wanted?

if i wear what is comfortable

i am not a woman

if i shed the layers

I’m a slut

though you’ve never seen my body

you still judge it

and judge me for it

why?

we make assumptions about people

based on their size

we decide who they are

we decide what they’re worth

if i wear more

if i wear less

who decides what that makes me?

what that means?

is my value based only on your perception?

or is your opinion of me not my responsibility?
