She went on to explain that she was participating in the ‘#TowelChallenge’, an Instagram hashtag created by Survivor star Lee Carseldine to raise awareness for the Stroke Foundation.

On Monday’s episode of Survivor: All Stars, Lee was forced to leave when his mother suffered a massive stroke while he was in the jungle, passing away before he was able to get home.

Reflecting on the tragic episode, Heidi wrote: ‘Here you go tiger. Last night watching Survivor ripped my heart out. Lee lost his beautiful mum Elizabeth to a stroke while in the jungle.’

‘Last night watching Survivor ripped my heart out. Lee lost his beautiful mum Elizabeth to a stroke while in the jungle. I’m so glad Mark ‘Tarzan’ Herlaar could catch you in his arms,’ she added.

Heidi went on to explain she wasn’t aware of the shocking statistics about Australian stroke rates before the towel challenge started.

‘Until today I had no idea that one in four people in Australia have strokes, every nine minutes someone has a stroke, and they’re more common than pancreatic and breast cancer put together,’ she wrote.

Linking her followers to the Stroke Foundation website, Heidi revealed Lee was trying to raise $77,000 for the charity – which was not only his jersey number when he played cricket, but also the age of his mother when she died.

Heidi tagged several of her friends’ Instagram accounts, asking them to take the challenge.

Among the names were fellow Married At first Sight stars Jules Robinson and Cameron Merchant, former Bachelorette Angie Kent and former Brisbane Broncos player Jack Reed.

Multiple Survivor stars, including Lee, have also completed the challenge.

In his lengthy Instagram post on Tuesday, Lee thanked everybody for their ongoing support, writing: ‘It means the world to me, my family and the stroke community.’
