Tiny 31-page Harry Potter book handwritten by JK Rowling is set to fetch up to £150,000 at auction

A tiny Harry Potter flip book handwritten by JK Rowling is expected to fetch up to £150,000 at auction.

The green flip-book measuring just a few inches in size was handwritten by JK Rowling in 2004, a year before she released Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

It contains quotes from the first Harry Potter book alongside cartoon drawings.

The author, now 54, used the tiny book of more than 30 pages to write out the Hogwarts ‘welcome’ letter Harry receives at the start of the first book.

She has also signed her name on one page while her notes are accompanied by cartoon drawings.

On another page, J.K. Rowling has written: ‘Students may also bring an owl OR a cat OR a toad’, with a picture of a bird cage drawn beside it.

The miniature book is the most valuable lot at a ‘strangest memorabilia’ auction by auctioneer JustCollecting, based in Jersey.

Bidding is live now through the Invaluable website, with the auction ending on March 26.

Dan Wade, who works at the auctioneers, said: ‘I think every Harry Potter fan in the world would love to own this book.

‘We’ve watched the market for the rarest Harry Potter books soar tenfold over the past decade or so, as childhood fans of the series have grown up to become serious collectors.

‘We’re expecting a lot of interest – and maybe even a couple of bids via Owl Post.’

In another auction this week, a first edition Harry Potter book inscribed by Rowling to the first person ‘to see merit’ in Harry Potter sold for over £118,000.
