Cassandra Thorburn reveals she sought mental health help during an ‘awful time’ in her marriage to Karl Stefanovic
It’s been three years since she separated from Today show host Karl Stefanovic.
And Cassandra Thorburn has revealed she sought mental health help during an ‘awful time’ when the couple were still legally husband and wife.
She said on the podcast Divorce Story: Surviving Separation this week: ‘When I was having a really awful time in my marriage, I went to my GP, and requested a mental health plan.’

‘Because relationship stress has such a huge impact on your health and mental health, I was able to get 10 [therapy] sessions at a very reduced rate,’ she added.
The former journalist, 48, also revealed on the podcast that she’d struggled to cope with her daily routine in the months after her split from Karl.
‘You get yourself out the door with the kids to go to school… You get them there. I would literally crawl to the back door and lie on the floor until it was time to pick them up again,’ she said.

Cassandra and Karl share three children: Jackson, 20, Ava, 14, and River, 12.
The former couple split in 2016 after 21 years of marriage. Months later, Karl began dating model and shoe designer Jasmine Yarbrough.
The pair married in Mexico on December 8, 2018. They are expecting their first child together, a daughter, in May.

When asked how she felt about her ex-husband having another child, Cassandra told The Kyle and Jackie O Show earlier this week: ‘I thought, “I’m glad it’s not me”… To be honest, that’s all I thought.’
She also clarified there were no hard feelings between herself and Karl, saying: ‘No, he’s married. I’m living my life. It’s all good.
‘We still share three children and nothing’s ever going to change that.’
