Serena Williams will be ‘spending the next 6 weeks in solitude’ amid the coronavirus crisis

Serena Williams will be ‘spending the next 6 weeks in solitude’ amid the coronavirus crisis as she tells everyone to stay safe: ‘This is serious’

Serena Williams is not taking any chances.

The professional tennis player and mother to two-year-old daughter Alexis Olympia took to Instagram on Friday morning with a sublime selfie video of herself getting made up to look very glam, yet the caption alongside it was of a different nature entirely.

‘Spending the next 6 weeks in solitude,’ Serena, 38, wrote. ‘Being a wife. Being a mom. Cooking. Cleaning. Spring cleaning. Face mask. Makeup tutorials.

‘I’ll let you know how it goes…’ she concluded, before adding a wish to ‘stay safe everyone. This is serious.’

In the gorgeous video, Serena sits at a makeup station, where an unseen artist defines and contours her nose.

Williams has her hair done sleek and flat against her head, in a chic side swipe.

She has heavy lashes and eye makeup on, and gorgeous matte lips, which she kisses together before the video ends.

The post comes after Williams’ appearance on Thursday night’s finale episode of Project Runway on Bravo, where she was a guest judge alongside perennial PR fashionista Nina Garcia, new judge Elaine Welteroth, and new host for the show Karlie Kloss.

Serena posted a Boomerang image from the telecast to her Instagram Story, showing the above ladies doing a can-can kick with the caption ‘how we feel about…’

Serena, who shares her daughter with husband (and Reddit co-founder) Alexis Ohanian, posted a spellbinding selfie of her and her adorable little girl on Thursday as well, and it’s fair to say that the tennis star is taking some time for herself out of concern not only for her own wellbeing, but for that of her family.

Serena’s decision comes as the world faces an unprecedented global health crisis, with practically every single large event, function, performance or other cause for gatherings of large numbers of people cancelled or postponed for the foreseeable future.

It’s all in an effort to stem the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus, which leads to the potentially serious respiratory ailment COVID-19.

Project Runway’s original host Heidi Klum, who now judges America’s Got Talent, herself fell ill this week, although she announced via her own Instagram Story on Friday morning that she doesn’t yet know whether it’s related to the epidemic and she is thus far unable to get tested for it, despite her best efforts with two doctors.

U.S. President Donald Trump is set to meet on Friday with major laboratory company executives to discuss efforts to ramp up testing for the virus, two sources briefed on the matter said, as the outbreak in the country widened.
