Very Cavallari: Jay Cutler admits he’d redo ‘nerve-wracking’ proposal to wife Kristin Cavallari

Jay Cutler admitted he would redo his ‘nerve-wracking’ proposal to Kristin Cavallari on Thursday’s episode of Very Cavallari.

The 36-year-old former pro football player made the revelation during a group trip with Kristin, 33, in Italy where she went to trace her family roots.

‘I didn’t do it well. If I could do it again, I’d do it again,’ Jay told pals Justin Anderson, Austin ‘Scoot’ Rhodes and Mark ‘Chuy’ Block while they walked together in Florence.

‘It’s just nerve-wracking,’ added Jay who played quarterback in the NFL for 12 seasons mostly with the Chicago Bears.

Justin who was mulling a marriage proposal to his boyfriend Scoot said he would likely ‘black out’ if he ever proposed.

‘You basically do! It’s just like, ”Get this ring out of my face. I can’t hold this anymore”,’ Jay said.

He also recalled that it was ‘rough’ asking Kristin’s father Dennis Cavallari for his blessing.

‘Asking permission from Kristin’s dad, that is rough. I mean, he said yes. It’s fine, but just the buildup is like …I don’t remember that either,’ Jay confessed.

Kristin and Jay got engaged in 2011 in Cabo San Lucas and were married in 2013. They have sons Camden, seven, and Jaxon, five, and four-year-old daughter Saylor together.

Jay later delivered a sweet toast to his wife during a group dinner with friends at Ciro & Sons restaurant where they enjoyed classic Italian food.

‘I will say this. There’s an ease about traveling with Kristin that’s very comforting. And she surrounds herself with really good people. You guys all mean a lot in her life and you’ve meant a lot in my life as I’ve got to know you,’ Jay said.

He then singled out his wife.

‘To Kristin, thank you for making our relationship better and better each and every day. She doesn’t settle for anything less. So thank you!,’ Jay said as he raised his wine glass and they all toasted together.

Kristin in a confessional gushed about the trip to Italy that she hoped would bring her closer to Dennis who became distant after her brother Michael Cavallari was found dead in December 2015 at age 30 following a car crash in Utah.

‘This Italy trip is really meaningful to me. You know, meeting the Cavallaris and doing all of this, tracing my roots, I just feel like this is such a moment in my life,’ Kristin said.

‘And to share that with all of my friends who are a part of my family. You know, they’re like my extended family. It’s just been such an incredible experience. So it means a lot to me that they’re here and that I can always count on them,’ she added.

Jay during the episode titled Read Between The Wines also stepped up during another group meal with noted butcher Dario Cecchini at his shop in the Chianti region.

Justin got drunk and flirted with their waiter Lorenzo and asked him to take his shirt off, while a perturbed Scoot suggested that his drunken boyfriend eat something.

Scoot asked Justin to take ‘one bite’, but he refused and said he wasn’t playing that game while saying his boyfriend was being ‘weird’.

‘I’m over that s***,’ Scoot said as he stormed off.

Jay then excused himself from the table and went after Scoot who was crying outside with a producer.

‘Give us a minute,’ Jay asked before he consoled Scoot.

Kristin was glad the trip brought them closer together and was moved by her father’s compliment.

‘It feels really nice hearing that my dad is proud of me because that’s not something that he has told me that often over the years. So, I think that’s important to hear once in a while,’ she said.
