Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo pays tribute to healthcare professionals amid coronavirus pandemic

Ellen Pompeo has starred as Dr. Meredith Grey on Grey’s Anatomy for 15 years.

So the actress has developed the utmost respect for the medical industry since the show premiered in 2005.

Pompeo posted a video Friday to Instagram of herself thanking the real doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

The 50-year-old said: ‘Hey everybody. This is my nurses and doctors and all of healthcare workers appreciation post.

‘Many of us have the privilege to self-quarantine and isolate and try to stay healthy, and none of you have that privilege. 

‘You all have to be on the front lines of this thing and what is certainly bad now but will most definitely get worse in the next couple of weeks.’

She added: ‘So this is just from me and my family to all of you to say thank you. We appreciate you, we love you. Stay safe. 

‘Nurses rock, doctors rock, and anyone who works in a hospital or the healthcare industry, you rock. We love you. Stay safe.’

Pompeo is most known for her portrayal of the titular character on Grey’s Anatomy, which is currently in its 16th season.

The three-time People’s Choice Award winner was announced as television’s highest paid actress in 2017, raking in more than $20million a year at $575,000 per episode.

She recently stepped out with TR Knight, who starred as Dr. George O’Malley for the first five seasons before his beloved character was tragically killed off.  

Pompeo posted a selfie with Knight during a hike, writing: ‘Old friends are the BEST friends @t.r.knight… 

‘But like we aren’t old… we’ve just known each other for a very long time yes yes that’s it….’
