Kelly Clarkson postpones her Las Vegas residency… after production on her talk show is temporarily shut down amid coronavirus fears

Kelly Clarkson has postponed her Las Vegas residency amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The 37-year-old pop star was poised to kick off her 2020 Las Vegas residency at the Zappos Theater in Planet Hollywood on April 1, but she’s now decided to delay those plans due to the global health crisis.

In a statement, Kelly explained: ‘As you may know, production on The Kelly Clarkson Show was temporarily shut down late last night and out of concern and care for everyone’s safety, we have chosen to postpone the April 1st opening of my Las Vegas residency, Invincible, until July.

‘Details regarding ticket replacement are forthcoming and I can’t wait to see you this summer. For now, please keep your loved ones close, safe and healthy.’

Kelly’s talk show is just one of numerous productions that have suspended filming or are continuing taping without a studio audience.

America’s Got Talent announced on Thursday that they would axe filming in front of live studio audiences, in order to try and limit the gathering of large crowds which could further the spread of coronavirus.

The production company Fremantle said in a statement: ‘Due to the ongoing global situation around COVID-19, we have been working closely with our production teams and network partners to take measures to help minimise the risk of exposure to our cast, crew and live audiences.

‘Effective immediately, we will refrain from filming in front of live audiences for our current productions America’s Got Talent and Family Feud. As live audiences are integral to the format of The Price Is Right, we will be suspending production for the short term.

‘For similar reasons, we will be postponing the start of production for season two of Card Sharks. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and determine the appropriate time to resume normal course of business.’

Large scale events like Coachella in California, SXSW in Texas have been postponed and sports leagues NHL and the NBA have all suspended play amid the ongoing pandemic crisis.
