‘We bonded big time’: Lisa Wilkinson reveals she interviewed Harry Styles in Los Angeles before heading back to Australia amid coronavirus pandemic

Lisa Wilkinson eluded to a ‘big celeb interview’ on Friday as she headed back to Australia from Los Angeles amid the coronavirus crisis.

And on Saturday, The Project presenter revealed she ‘bonded’ with British pop sensation Harry Styles during the soon-to-be-aired segment.

The journalist, 60,  joked that she shared a mutual love of Australian singer Daryl Braithwaite’s hit single Horses with the former One Director star, 26.

‘This week on the Sunday The Project, the fabulous Harry Styles and I bond big time over Daryl Braithwaite’s The Horses,’ Lisa explained on Saturday.

Lisa went on to share a bizarre fake music video, where Lisa sang along to Horses while on the beach with a 1990 version of Daryl.

‘Now seems as good a time as any to remember that time Dazza and I did our own version (sort of)… and I felt like I was my 16-year-old Sherbet-loving self all over again.’

On Friday, the TV presenter almost found herself stranded on the other side of the world while on assignment for The Project.

‘Los Angeles, you’ve been great, and the major celeb interview we managed to get for The Project was definitely worth the trip. But… we’re outta here!

‘America feels like it’s shutting down, and I don’t know how much longer these borders are going to be open. Australia, here I come,’ Lisa wrote on Instagram.

She then urged people to take care of each other in the wake of the outbreak, and reminded her followers to practice hygiene.

‘Be safe everyone. Wash your hands. And look after each other. xxx,’ she concluded.

The World Health Organisation declared the coronavirus to be a pandemic on Thursday, as the virus continues to spread around the world.

‘We have rung the alarm bell loud and clear,’ said the W.H.O.’s director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, as reported by The New York Times.

He added: ‘Find, isolate, test and treat every case, and trace every contact. Ready your hospitals. Protect and train your health care workers.’

Hours later, President Trump announced he was closing the US borders, ordering an immediate shutdown of all travel from Europe.

‘We will be suspending all travel from Europe to the United States for the next 30 days,’ Trump announced in a speech from the Oval Office.
