The Jonas Brothers cancel their scheduled Las Vegas residency amid growing concerns surrounding the coronavirus

The Jonas Brothers were just set to kick off a highly anticipated nine-date residency at the newly renovated Park MGM in Las Vegas.

But the beloved trio took to Twitter on Friday to announce that due to the growing concerns surrounding the coronavirus their residency ‘is being canceled.’

‘We are so sad to disappoint you guys, but it’s important for everyone to do what we can to keep everyone healthy,’ wrote the band’s official page.

Canceled: The Jonas Brothers were set to kick off a highly anticipated nine-date residency at the newly renovated Park MGM in Las Vegas, but the trio took to Twitter to announce they would be canceled their residency due to the growing fears surrounding the coronavirus; Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas performing at the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards in January

They continued: ‘We did not make this decision lightly. We were so excited for the opportunity to share an amazing show with you guys, but nothing is more important than everyone’s health and safety.’

The group – which consists of Kevin, Nick, and Joe Jonas – revealed that the decision was made ‘after careful consideration’ and with the ‘growing concern’ for their ‘fans, touring staff, and families’ wellness.’

The residency was scheduled to begin on April 1 and would, eventually, come to an explosive close on the evening of April 18.

‘We love you guys and we are praying for everyone’s safety and wellness. We’ll see you soon,’ concluded the brothers.

The Jonas Brothers were supposed to be the latest musical act to call Park MGM ‘home,’ following the residencies of Lady Gaga and rock n’ roll band Aerosmith.

But the Jonas Brothers are merely part of an ever growing list of musicians who have had to cancel tours, shows, and appearances due to the pandemic panic.

The likes of Cher, BTS, Louis Tomlinson, Yungblud, and My Chemical Romance have been forced to axe scheduled shows across the globe.

Earlier this week, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival announced it would not be taking place in its usual April time slot, and instead would be pushed back until October.

Festival executives hope the virus ‘will have passed,’ by the time the October date rolls around.

President Donald Trump addressed the nation during a press conference Friday morning where he officially declared coronavirus a ‘national emergency.’

The declaration will allow Trump to access $50million in emergency funds and unveil ‘drive-thru testing’ for the virus at Walmart, Target, and CVS parking lots across the nation.
