Married At First Sight is pulled from Nine’s schedule and replaced by Scott Morrison’s emergency broadcast about the coronavirus pandemic

Married At First Sight fans were left furious on Sunday night after Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s emergency broadcast interrupted the reality show.

Viewers in Queensland vented their fury on social media after the program was temporarily pulled from air for an update on the coronavirus pandemic.

‘Until you can give us some clarity @ScottMorrisonMP, please don’t interrupt MAFS,’ tweeted one user, after the Prime Minister ordered all pubs and licensed venues to shut from Monday to prevent COVID-19 spreading further.

As Mr Morrison discussed social distancing rules, a self-isolating viewer at home tweeted: ‘I’m doing the right thing but I want to watch MAFS #lockdown.’

Commenting on Instagram page MAFS Funny, many more fans were left fuming.

‘I haven’t watched because I’m in QLD and the PM announcement cut the show short so now I’m dying to see what happens,’ vented one unimpressed viewer.

‘Click like if you’re in Queensland and missed the whole episode due to ScoMo,’ joked another fan during the update.

‘This fake emergency news has taken up all the airtime,’ laughed a third viewer.

Another person mocked: ‘The PM’s live conference is better than this ep.’

The show resumed as normal after Mr Morrison’s emergency broadcast ended.

Scott Morrison has warned even more draconian measures could be imposed if Australians don’t take social distancing seriously during the coronavirus pandemic.

On Sunday, a fed-up Prime Minister announced tough new ‘stage one’ restrictions, ordering pubs and licensed premises close for six months.

The restrictions also cover places of worship, casinos, restaurants and cafes without takeaway services, nightclubs and registered clubs.

In Australia as of Sunday evening, there are 1,354 confirmed cases of coronavirus and seven deaths.
