Melanie C is hopeful that the Spice Girls will reunite again (and tour America) once the world has got through the ‘tricky, tricky times’ of COVID-19

Melanie C has given a glimmer of hope to Spice Girls fans, as the world battles through the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The singer, 46, has admitted that she is hopeful the band will reform again, like they did in 2019, and this time tour America.

Speaking to BuzzFeed News’ Twitter show AM to DM, the songstress said of the prospect of a further comeback: ‘I hope so! I really hope so!

‘We had the best time last year. The shows were incredible. The audiences were insane. People came from the US — all over the world. Every night there were so many international flags.

‘Us girls, we still talk. We have our phones. We talk about opportunities. Tricky, tricky times, but I like to think in the future there will definitely be more Spice shows.’

Mel reformed with Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Mel B last year to take on a 13-date tour of the UK.

The SpiceWorld 2019 tour sold out packed stadiums over the summer and earned a reported £66 million.

Fifth Spice Girl Victoria Beckham sat the comeback out, choosing to concentrate instead on her fashion business.

Victoria is still close with the girls – Emma and Geri seen recently at her and David’s son Brooklyn’s 21st birthday party.

She last performed with the band at the 2012 Olympics in London, as the group sang out the event at the closing ceremony.

She appeared with the group the following autumn at the premiere of Viva Forever! – a stage musical based on the Spice Girls’ songs – and then again at a clandestine meeting at Geri’s house in 2018, with the band’s former manager Simon Fuller.

Yet she still decided to sit out the 2019 tour.

While the show only toured the UK, ending in London last year, Mel B announced afterwards that the group would be heading to Australia in 2020.

This, however, appeared to be more an off-the-cuff remark, rather than anything concrete.

Mel C’s latest solo single, Who I Am is out now.
