At the start of the show, Kate explained why she was wearing glasses and apologised for her appearance, assuring viewers she didn’t have the virus.

She said: ‘I should apologise for my appearance by the way. It’s nothing to do with the coronavirus.

‘I’ve got a little eye infection which is making my eye a bit watery, meaning I’m wearing my glasses.

She went on to reveal that in accordance with social distancing rules she had done her own hair and make up, and said: ‘As we have to do our own hair and make-up at the moment maybe it’s no bad thing you can’t see too much detail.’

After sharing her fears with Dr Hilary on the show, Kate received a consultation in the ad break, where he prescribed a course of antibiotic drops.

Their chat prompted a discussion on when you should seek medical advice for a non-coronavirus related medical issue at the moment.

Kate admitted that she was concerned her eye issue was ‘petty’, and suggested others may feel the same way about contacting their doctor.

However Dr Hilary reassured her that if she had sight problems it would be considered an ‘optical emergency’, before adding that routine opticians and dentist appointments should be cancelled.
