‘Staggeringly incompetent and alarming’: Seinfeld star Julia Louis-Dreyfus slams the US government’s response to coronavirus pandemic

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has slammed the US government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic in a new interview. 

The 59-year-old actress, who has been vocal with her criticisms on Twitter, explained bluntly how she felt in an interview with Stellar magazine published on Saturday. 

The former Seinfeld star said:  ‘I find the government’s response to this entire pandemic and crisis to be staggeringly incompetent and alarming.’

Asked if her character on political comedy Veep, Selina Meyer, who on the show was elected the first female American president, would do a better job, Julia agreed. 

The American star answered:  ‘Believe it or not, Selina Meyer was a joke of a politician… but I really think she would be a better president under these circumstances than our current so-called president.’    

The United States became the first country to surpass 100,000 infections on Friday, according to a count kept by Johns Hopkins University.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in America stands at 104,007 with 1693 deaths as of Friday.  

It comes after Julia quipped on the new streaming version of Jimmy Kimmel Live that she has taken hygiene precautions to a whole new level.  

The icon joked that she has ‘washed away my fingerprints’ to the point she can no longer touch-unlock her phone.

‘So you know how your computer or your phone, you can turn it on by using your fingerprint? Well, I’ve washed away my fingerprints. Yeah, no kidding,’ she said.

‘Yeah, so that doesn’t work anymore,’ she said, before revealing she wears rubber gloves to run all necessary errands. 

The actress has been locked down with her husband of over three decades Brad Hall and their children Henry, 27, and Charlie, 22.
