Melania Trump posted a video of herself reading ‘The Little Rabbit’ on Twitter Sunday morning after the White House had to cancel the annual Easter Egg Roll held on Easter every year.

‘Since we are not able to celebrate the traditional Easter Egg Roll on the grounds of the White House this year, I want to take a moment to wish everyone a Happy Easter, and read one of my favorite children’s books,’ Trump said in the four-minute video where she read the book.

In the four-minute video, images of the book’s pages and illustrations flashed across the screen as Trump read the book in a voice-over.

‘I hope you’re able to enjoy this special holiday,’ the first lady said at the conclusion of the book. ‘Be sure to take care of yourselves and each other.’

The first family usually hosts an Easter Monday event each year where families are invited to celebrate the season on the South Lawn.

This year, Melania Trump announced in mid-March that the event was canceled in light of the growing concerns over the spread and contraction of coronavirus.

The announcement came as the White House released social distancing guidelines, including maintaining a distance of 6 feet from people in public and keeping social gatherings to 10 people or less.

Senior advisor to the president and first daughter Ivanka Trump also took to Twitter to share her Easter wishes – including one to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

‘Happy Easter @BorisJohnson! Stay healthy and strong!’ she tweeted Sunday morning.

Johnson was discharged from St. Thomas Hospital in central London Easter morning as friends of the prime minister revealed his battle with the disease brought him close to death.

The 55-year-old will not immediately return to work, a spokesman said, claiming the advice came from his medical team to rest.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab is likely to remain in charge of the day-to-day running of the government.

‘While so much is uncertain in these difficult times, I hope this Easter Sunday you are able to take solace in your faith and family, even if remotely,’ Ivanka wrote in a separate tweet as a message to Americans.

‘Join me in praying for protection of those on the frontlines battling COVID-19 & everyone, globally, who is hurting right now,’ she continued.

The president shared an Easter message earlier in the day, posting a less than one-minute video where he urged Americans to ‘bring the family together’ for the celebration – despite social-distancing guidelines.

‘We’ll be back together in churches right next to each other. Celebrate. Bring the family together like no other. We have a lot to be thankful for,’ he said in the video.
