Sam Smith reveals they did poppers with Nicole Scherzinger during a wild night out in London last year… but warns people ‘they’re not good for you’

Sam Smith is making a strong proclamation of love for the legal drug poppers, but wasn’t endorsing them to others.

The English singer opened up about a fun night out with fellow star Nicole Scherzinger back in December.

Smith, 27, dished about the wild night while joining Andy Cohen on his Sirius XM show Radio Andy on Friday.

The Bravo host didn’t hold back during his interview with the Writings on the Wall singer and asked about his ‘favorite rumor of last year.’

‘In December, it was written everywhere, that you and Nicole Scherzinger were doing poppers at a bar in London,’ Cohen said.

Adding: ‘Ya know I’ve talked about poppers. I feel like poppers have their place — they’re not illegal — they can be a beautiful thing. Can you confirm or deny that that happened?’

‘I feel bad. I can completely confirm I love poppers,’ Smith said. ‘I LOVE poppers. I’ve been ashamed to say that, but I have so much fun when I do poppers.’

When asked why they felt embarrassed about using the legal drug they said ‘I don’t know. I guess some people would look at it and think that its just not good. And I’m not trying to endorse it ’cause I know they’re not good for you.’

Poppers is the common term for inhaled chemicals, often alkyl nitrites, that rose to popularity in the 70s for causing a brief euphoric feeling, and relaxing muscles.

Cohen still wanted to know more about the night saying, ‘I just love it that she was open enough that you were like “Oh, you just have to try a hit of poppers.”‘

‘I think Nicole has definitely gone out to a fair amount of gay bars in her life,’ Smith joked. ‘We’ve been out a few times in London.’

‘But yeah, we were just out that one time,’ they added.  ‘I honestly didn’t think anyone could see us. Yeah, we just got a bit rowdy and, yeah, it was fabulous.’

Smith released a new song, I’m Ready, with Demi Lovato last week, and joined Cohen to discuss the new release.
