‘I have to rein him in!’: Jamie Redknapp discusses working with dad Harry while Roman Kemp recalls ‘absolute carnage’ of filming with father Martin in hilarious interview
Jamie Redknapp and Roman Kemp discussed the ‘carnage’ of working with their famous fathers during an interview on Capital Breakfast on Wednesday.
The former footballer, 46, and the radio DJ, 27, who were chatting about programme Redknapp’s Home Fixture couldn’t resist spilling details about working with football manager Harry Redknapp, 73, and Spandau Ballet rocker Martin Kemp, 58.
Roman said: ‘I love that you’ve got this going – your very first father-son TV project.

‘Now Jamie, I’m gonna come to you – being someone that’s worked with my dad on a couple of TV things, I mean, what’s it been like for you working with your old man?’
A delighted Jamie responded about his I’m A Celebrity champion father: ‘He’s great.
‘He’s loose, I must admit, you know, you’ve got to rein him in every now and again. You know what it’s like, mate! But nah, he’s fantastic.
‘He’s got so many amazing stories. The amount of times we’ll talk about someone and he’ll go “I’ve met him, I’ve got a story about him” and he’ll make it funny.

‘No, it’s brilliant, he’s a joy to work with, but trying to rein him in, trying to make sure we’ve got the direction of where we’re going with an interview – every now and again he just goes rogue on me… But I love him, he’s brilliant, and it’s been nice.
An amused Roman responded: ‘Do you know what, it’s the exact same thing with my dad! Having to film with him, it is absolute carnage! But your dad’s a bit cooler than mine though!’
Jamie responded: ‘Sometimes!’

The father-son duo were guests on The One Show on Tuesday evening ahead of their appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox later this week.
Host Alex Jones began by asking Martin what it was like to have his son back home to film the segment before the lockdown, to which he replied: ‘It was the best thing.
‘When he came home I was able to show him what I have been doing around the garden and just to see him and talk to him face to face rather than digitally was so nice.’
But speaking about his father’s new-found hobbies, Roman himself joked: ‘When I was a kid my dad was always the cool dad like “oh yeah get your mates round, we can watch horror movies, we can watch the football”.
‘But now he is just like “Shirl, shirl, what do you want to watch? Shall we watch something to do with gardening again”.
‘He’s just obsessed, he’s obsessed with gardening.’
