Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles’s Josh Altman says COVID-19 rocked the real estate industry

The housing market has slowed down tremendously since the spike of COVID-19 and the pandemic hits season 12 of Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles in a big way.

For Josh Altman, ‘the game has changed with corona’ but, despite some very slow months on the work front, the 41-year-old says that this season of the show has been one of his favorites so far.

The star exclusively sat down with DailyMailTV to discuss the latest twists and turns of the West Coast based real estate reality show as it returns with all new episodes.

Changes: Josh Altman sat down exclusively with DailyMailTV to talk about how the real estate ‘game has changed with corona’ and tease what to expect for season 12 of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles

‘The game has changed with corona, no question about it,’ Josh said. ‘For me personally, it was a really slow two months. You are gonna see that.’

Altman explained that the series was still filming when the pandemic forced the country to effectively shut down.

In Los Angeles, where the realtor sells multi-million dollar mansions, the crisis meant abiding by stay-at-home and strict social distancing orders which impacted both his business and the show.

‘The end of the season, we actually were finishing while this hit so a lot of the footage was from us by ourselves in our houses,’ he explained.

Josh joined the show season four and has built his real-estate reputation with brother Matt within the ‘platinum triangle’ which encompasses Beverly Hills, Bel Air and Holmby Hills – some of the wealthiest zip codes in America.

In 2011, the year he joined Million Dollar Listing, Josh reportedly sold an eye-popping $60,000,000 in real estate for that year alone – followed by $75,000,000 in 2012.

Due to the pandemic, in season 12 Josh and his co-stars expand their reach beyond their typical comfort-zone in order to keep up with the changing times.

'Just in general the market had shifted a little bit,' he explained. 'So, we all went farther and wider as far as marketing and houses so you're gonna see not just the typical, the Beverly Hills, the Bel Air, the Hollywood Hills.'

While it meant more work for the luxury realtors, Josh thinks that viewers will enjoy seeing ‘everywhere far and wide’ because they will ‘get to see more real estate around the world.’

Despite the pandemic changing the face of the industry – as well as the resulting recession – Altman said that this season was his favorite one because he’s finally a family man.

Josh married wife Heather in 2016 and together they have two toddlers, daughter Alexis and son Ace.

'I feel and hope that we have all matured a lot over the past 12 years being on the show. But just when you think things are good, we go back to being in fourth grade and we just start fighting again,' Josh said with a laugh

As for his Bravo co-stars, Altman said he thinks the group has grown up a lot but that old habits and patterns are hard to shake.

‘I feel and hope that we have all matured a lot over the past 12 years being on the show,’ he revealed.

‘But just when you think things are good, we go back to being in fourth grade and we just start fighting again,’ Josh added with a laugh. ‘So, the dynamic is there, it’s pretty much the same, everyone’s best friends and they all hate me.’
