How Chris Moyles shed FIVE STONE while still enjoying ‘chip sticks and cookies’

Chris Moyles has impressed fans with his five stone weight loss, which he achieved over the course of more than six years by changing his unhealthy lifestyle.

The DJ, 46, recently showed off his ever shrinking figure when he stepped out to the shops with girlfriend Tiffany Austin in London on Tuesday.

Having previously stated he thought he’d ‘die at 50’ if he didn’t overhaul his diet, Chris has managed to lose weight by ditching bread and booze, taking part in five-day detoxes and embarking on a strict fitness regime.

Chris has attributed his former unhealthy lifestyle to working early morning shifts for Radio 1’s Breakfast Show, as it meant he would often eat junk food and snacks while working.

Calling his time on the show his ‘fat breakfast DJ stage’, the radio personality was previously said to rarely exercise and would often eat multiple takeaways a day.

Now working for Radio X, the star has been able to focus on having better eating habits and exercising, and he now credits his weight loss to running and ditching junk food.

According to GoodToKnow, before his weight loss mission Chris ate about 2,000 calories per day of unhealthy food, but the DJ has told fans he believed the number was much higher.

Taking to his Facebook page at the time, Chris refuted: ‘Have you missed a zero off that? If I was consuming only 2000 calories a day, I could’ve lost weight!

‘The NHS website says a man needs around 2,500 calories a day to maintain his weight.

‘I eat eggs as they are. Chicken with skin on, only started eating fish recently and have turkey at Christmas.’

He now eats the same amount of calories, but has swapped greasy pizza and fatty ice cream for fresh fruit and vegetables, along with grains like quinoa and oatmeal.

When he was previously accused of using weight-loss shakes to shed the pounds, Chris took to his Facebook to refute the claims as he’d ‘never even heard of’ it.

‘I don’t want people reading this and thinking that’s how I lost weight. So here, from my tiny mouth, is the truth,’ he wrote.

‘I stopped buying bread. Dramatically cut my lager intake. Started eating better food… Trained regularly. That’s it.

‘I just wanted you to know I didn’t use any supplements and I still… hate oatmeal.’

In 2016, Chris also embarked on a five-day juice diet which saw him consume only liquids for the entire period in a bid to lose more weight.

Updating fans on his progress he took to Instagram to share snaps of his juice, while he also admitted he struggled on the second day when ‘the studio [was] full of food’ for a colleague’s birthday.

During the juice diet, he shared a snap of a bottle of juice and a ginger shot and joked: ‘Day 4 of nothing but bloody juuuuuuice! This is my breakfast.. ffs Only 38 hours to go.. Haha’

While on his last day, Chris rejoiced: ‘The 5 day Juice Detox is all but over. The final soup has been demolished. I haven’t eaten solid food since Tuesday night and I feel great.

‘Well done to me. And thanks to Captain Juice (PS It tasted lovely so don’t bother leaving messages such as ‘Looks like Kermit’s p***’ etc… You’re too late!)’

Chris has always been open about his battle with weight and his fitness goals, and told The Sun in 2017 that he does occasionally ‘fall off the wagon’.

Admitting he doesn’t enjoy the feeling, he said: ‘I fall off the wagon sometimes and buy a pack of salt and vinegar chip sticks and a pack of cookies and eat them, and I feel bad about myself and cry myself to sleep. That happens.’

He told Metro in 2015 that he was trying to focus on keeping his weight at bay after kickstarting his bid to get in shape the previous year.

He explained: ‘I’m getting older. If I don’t keep fit I will be dead by the time I am 50.’

Chris has been doing cardio three times a week, plus using free weights to build lean muscle mass.

He’s also been working hard with personal trainers, telling the Mirror as far back as 2011: ‘I’ve got David Haye’s old trainer who kills me.

‘I’ve become obsessed [fitness]. And I watch what I eat now that I’ve had to learn to cook for myself and that takes up a lot of my time, especially if I’m not drinking, which I have been trying not to do lately.’
