Virgin Media goes DOWN: Thousands of people working from home are unable to get online as broadband provider suffers major outage

  • Issues with the service began at 8am, before spiking an hour-and-a-half later
  • Virgin Media said some TV customers experienced a ‘brief issue’ this morning
  • Company has 3.2 million customers and 6 million broadband subscribers

Virgin media broadband has gone down across the UK this morning, leaving thousands of people working from home unable to get online.

A hotspot map reveals the service is unavailable in most of England and southern Wales, as well as central Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland.

Issues with the service began around 8am, with 905 reports of problems on the site Downdetector.co.uk, before they spiked part 9.30am.

Virgin Media has said some customers have experienced a ‘brief issue’ with their TV service this morning but that has now been resolved.

It is yet to comment on how broadband customers are being affected.
