And Dr Alex George was awaiting the day he would reunited with girlfriend Amelia Bath on Tuesday, as he shared a loved-up throwback snap on Tuesday. 

The former Love Island star, 30, admitted he ‘couldn’t wait’ to see his stunning girlfriend again, as they have been forced to spend weeks apart while he works on the NHS frontline.

Leaving the south London hospital in the early hours, he shared: ‘My shift is now finished and I am just heading home.

‘It’s been again a busy shift – I know I keep saying this but it is the truth. I am feeling alright, I am tired. 

‘One of the challenges is that I am away from my girlfriend, I made the decision that I didn’t want to risk giving it to her or her family.

‘So I am up in London staying on my own – isolating, and she is staying elsewhere so I don’t give it to her. 

He also praised the ambulance service, revealing: ‘I spoke to John, a paramedic.

‘In business as usual times they see traumatic things, we need to support their mental health too.’

Dr Alex also said it was ‘a little sad’ there would be no clap for carers tonight, adding that he’s had lots of Instgram direct messages saying people would still be on their doorstep to clap at 8pm tonight, despite the founder’s call for it to end.
