She rose to fame as a child star on Home and Away in the late ’80s.

And Kate Ritchie is rumoured to be making a TV comeback, having reportedly signed a ‘secret deal’ with Channel 10 to be a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.

Kate, 40, who is better known these days as a radio presenter, has apparently turned down similar offers before, but is now ready to take the plunge.

Kate made her acting debut as Sally Fletcher on Home and Away at the age of eight. She left the show in 2008 and returned briefly in 2013.

While Kate has expressed a desire to return to acting in the future, a source told New Idea a role on DWTS would push Kate out of her comfort zone.

‘Kate has an open invitation to do all the [reality] shows and they chase her every year,’ the insider added.

The source claimed Kate had been asked to do I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and The Masked Singer in the past, but turned them down.

But they said they were confident she would sign on for Dancing with the Stars.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel 10 and Kate Ritchie for comment.

Her former co-star Lynne McGranger appeared on the celebrity dance competition in 2014, when the program was still broadcast on Seven.

Last year, Kate claimed she was interested in the idea of being a contestant on the Channel 10 show.

‘Maybe you’ll see me on a series of Dancing with the Stars,’ she told Body+Soul in March. ‘I think it’s amazing that people do that’.

The Nova FM host also recently told TV Week she was looking for the ‘right role’ and ‘ensemble’ for her eventual return to the small screen.
