Manu Feildel looks downcast as he visits a cafe in Sydney – after his new cooking show Plate of Origin flopped in the ratings

Manu Feildel looked rather downcast as he visited a cafe on Wednesday, after his new cooking show Plate of Origin flopped in the ratings.

The 46-year-old, who recently lost an incredible 12 kilos, was spotted purchasing a meal with his manager Natalie Street in Sydney’s Botany.

The celebrity chef stepped out wearing camo printed shorts, a navy T-shirt and pair of brown shoes.

He completed his ensemble with a black hat and held a small black bag during the outing.

Manu was spotted waiting at the front of the cafe with his manager after ordering his meal.

After collecting his order, the chef was seen walking to his car while holding his cup of coffee and takeaway box.

Manu’s outing comes after his new show, alongside Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan, Plate of Origin, flopped in the ratings.

The Channel Seven cooking show drew 667,000 viewers for its premiere, but these numbers got progressively worse as the weeks went by.

Just 335,000 people tuned in to watch the finale of Plate of Origin last month, raking in the worst ratings of the entire season.

By contrast, MasterChef Australia – which two of the trio were formerly hosts of – drew in a metro audience of 1.523 million viewers for its finale back in July 2020, as well as a regional viewership of 477,000.

Plate of Origin was even outperformed by the cooking show that was axed by Seven to make way for it: My Kitchen Rules.

MKR, which starred Manu alongside Pete Evans and Colin Fassnidge, pulled in 553,000 metro viewers for its March 2020 finale.
