Joe Wicks has expressed how his MBE is his ‘proudest achievement’ after the fitness coach helped children keep active with online PE lessons during lockdown. 

The YouTube sensation, 34, known as The Body Coach, revealed how he was overwhelmed with the honour and said it was ‘such a special moment’ on Saturday. 

Father-of-two Joe also revealed on Instagram how the MBE was the ‘icing on the cake’ and added: ‘If we ever go into another lockdown I promise I will be back!’

The Body Coach’s daily morning workouts proved a huge lockdown hit with one million people subscribing to his YouTube channel in the space of a week and raising £580,000 for the NHS. 

To celebrate the MBE Joe shared a collection of sweet snaps to his Instagram including his wife Rosie and daughter Indie, two, and ten-month-old son Marley.  

Joe, who has 2.56million YouTube subscribers, also shared snaps of himself dressed as a Fred from The Flintstones and a kangaroo from the fancy dress fitness sessions.

‘It’s my proudest achievement and I feel honoured to have been given an MBE. Thank you.

On his Instagram Story Joe thanked his 3.8million followers for their support and said he ‘never imagined’ he would receive an MBE.   

He said: ‘The news is out and its been announced I can’t believe I am saying this but I’m actually an MBE.

‘Joe Wicks MBE which is mad and I never imagined that – never expected it but what an honour. 

He continued: ‘I wanted to say thank you to everybody that took part in any of my PE with Joe workouts who have helped me spread it, share it, talk about it because it made it such a huge moment in time.

‘And everyone that took part really benefitted from it and that was what it was all about – moving, lifting people’s energy and mood and changing their mental health.

‘I was so proud that I was there all through lockdown doing those workouts even with a broken hand so the MBE is just a lovely icing on the cake if you like but thanks for all your comments, all your DMs. 

He ended: ‘Thank you for your support and if we ever go into another lockdown I promise I will be back.’
