Kim Kardashian announces she’ll donate $1 million to the Armenia Fund

Kim Kardashian showed she wasn’t just talk on Saturday as she announced a $1 million donation to the Armenia Fund.

The 39-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star posted a short video to social media in which she revealed her support for the humanitarian organization dedicated to helping those in Armenia and the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh, also known as Artsakh.

Her charitable donation comes amid continued fighting between Azerbaijan and Armenia, both of which have claimed the disputed area.

Doing her part: Kim Kardashian, 39, revealed on Saturday that she would be donating $1 million to the Armenia Fund to help those impacted by the fighting between Azerbaijan and Armenia

Kim was dressed simply but elegantly in her one-minute video with a lustrous beige tank top.

She had her raven tresses tied back tightly into thick braids swept over one shoulder, and she wore a variety of thick silver ear cuffs that framed her impeccably made-up face.

‘I’m so honored to be a part of today’s global effort to support the Armenia Fund,’ Kim began after introducing herself.

‘I’ve been speaking out about the current situation in Armenia and Artsakh, and having conversations with so many others to bring further awareness to the crisis that we can not allow to advance.’

The reality star offered her ‘thoughts and prayers for the brave men, women and children,’ presumably referring to the ethnic Armenians in the region.

‘We need to remember that despite the distance that separates us, we are not limited by borders. We are one global Armenian nation together,’ she continued.

The shapewear mogul encouraged her fans and followers to give what they could to the fund, or just to share information about it on social media.

Kim’s sisters Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian both shared similar videos of their own, minus the $1 million donations.

However, sources told TMZ that the sisters were also making sizable donations of their own, as was their brother Rob Kardashian.

In her video, Khloé acknowledged that some people in the West might have trouble empathizing with those swept up in the conflict, but she was moved by it now that she was a mother.

The disputed region is generally referred to as Nagorno-Karabakh internationally and by Azerbaijan, and much of the international community considers it a part of Azerbaijan.

However, the region is primarily populated by and governed by ethnic Armenians, who prefer the name Artsakh.

The fighting in the region has been going on since July, but but it ratcheted up last month between Azerbaijan and Armenia, with nearby Turkey taking the side of Azerbaijan, while Russia supports Armenia’s efforts to take control of the territory.
