Samantha Armytage asks for ‘more tolerance’ after run-ins with strangers

Sunrise co-host Samantha Armytage pleads for everyone to be ‘a bit more tolerant’ after being at the centre of two run-ins with angry strangers

Samantha Armytage has asked the Australian public to be ‘a bit tolerant’ after being at the centre of two run-ins with angry strangers this week.

In her column for The Sunday Telegraph’s Stellar magazine, the Sunrise co-host recalled how she was on the receiving end of abuse while running errands in Sydney.

The 44-year-old was sworn at by a driver at the traffic lights after he dangerously swerved into her lane, and was scolded at a local park over a ‘two-poo’ situation.

Samantha said that while it’s normal to feel stressed and anxious amid such an uncertain time, ‘it’s really important we don’t become d**ks’.

‘We’ve all been socially isolated for so long; it could just happen. So be a bit tolerant. And just try really, really hard not to be a d**k,’ she penned.

The first incident saw Samantha on the receiving end of abuse at the traffic lights, after she beeped her horn at an angry driver who dangerously swerved into her lane.

At the time, the TV personality was driving her parents to the hospital for check-ups.

Samantha was then abused by a stranger at a local park after she realised she had run out of plastic bags to pick up her dog Banjo’s ‘second’ poo.

While she patiently waited to see whether she could ask someone for a spare plastic bag, a stranger scolded her for just standing there and not picking up the poo.

When she returned to Sunrise the following Tuesday, she told co-host David ‘Kochie’ Koch that Richard proposed on the spur of the moment in the paddock of his country property.

The couple confirmed their romance to WHO magazine for their Sexiest People issue in November last year.

Samantha revealed they had been introduced by a mutual friend ‘around Easter’ and shared an instant connection.

She added that the most attractive thing about Richard is that he’s ‘comfortable in his own skin’.
