In an emotional interview with OK! magazine, Mario revealed that he wanted to raise awareness and he also praised TOWIE for tackling men’s mental health issues.

He said: ‘My mindset was very much to sort out where my head was and get help and talk to people as opposed to shutting myself out, which is what I’d done for a month or two before.’

Mario detailed just how isolated he had allowed himself to become at the time of his attempt.

He said: ‘I wasn’t seeing my friends, I hadn’t spoken to my family about what was going on, I was just kind of swallowing everything that had been happening and just feeling more and more s**t.’

Mario added that he was very pleased to see TOWIE’s I Cry Because campaign, which has documented the mental health struggles that men face.

Mario returns to TOWIE in Sunday’s tenth anniversary episode, alongside his adorable son Parker Jax, who will turn two in November.

Mario shares his son with fiancée Becky Miesner. Mario recently revealed he and Becky were disappointed they had to postpone their May wedding.

He said: ‘We’re all set for next year and it’s still going to be in Italy. The more annoying thing for us was that we would have tried for baby number two but now that’s on hold as well. It’s one of those things.

Mario admitted the wedding cancellation was tougher on Becky who had been looking forward to it for a long time.

He said: ‘I was more upset for Becky because I think wedding days are more for the lady, it’s the thing they dream of. Life goes on.

‘There’s people at the moment who are not working, who are made redundant and are suffering because of what’s going on.’

The couple were originally going to wed on May 28 this year with Becky admitting she was ‘heartbroken’ when they were forced to call it off.
