The Labour government in Wales is accused of ‘bullying’ Covid-hit businesses into supporting unions in exchange for state aid.
A letter sent to companies last month by Cardiff’s Economy Minister Ken Skates states: ‘We expect employers who receive public funds to allow trade unions access…
‘We would like you to remind your staff about this and encourage them to find the right union for them.’

It also included a link to the Trades Union Congress website.
Darren Millar, Conservative member of the Welsh parliament, said: ‘Labour should stop bullying businesses, apologise for strong-arming them, and give them the support they need to protect jobs.’
A spokesman for Mr Skates said: ‘The Welsh Labour Government is committed to working with employers and trade unions to change people’s working lives for the better.
‘We make no apology for that.’
