Normal People hunk Paul Mescal ‘is eyed by Andrew Lloyd Webber to play Prince Charming in new Cinderella stage musical’ after TV show success
Normal People’s Paul Mescal has reportedly been added to Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s wishlist of stars to appear in his upcoming stage musical Cinderella.
The 24-year-old Irish actor, who earned legions of fans this year with the debut of his acclaimed TV show, is said to be pegged for the role of Prince Charming in the play.
A source told The Mirror: ‘Andrew would love him to star in one of his musicals and joked how they were looking for a Prince Charming. Paul said he was really honoured and how it would be a dream to star in a West End show.

‘They’ve spoken a few times and Paul is up for doing something but doesn’t want to commit long-term because he’s being inundated with offers. So he might do a few cameos or take it on for a couple of months.’
According to the publication, while 72-year-old impresario Lloyd Webber allegedly wants to give the actor a role in the production, Mescal is reportedly busy trying to crack Hollywood amid his sudden rise in popularity.

The stage musical had been due to open this autumn, but has been postponed until 2021, as London’s theatres remain closed amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
While the cast has yet to be confirmed, Mescal likely impressed the celebrated star, after revealing he made his acting debut in Phantom Of The Opera as a student – leading to an invitation for a singalong.
After Mescal made the revelation during an appearance on Ireland’s Late Late Show on RTE, Lloyd Webber tweeted the star: ‘Hi Paul! I heard you are part of the Phantom alumni, fancy a singalong?’
Clearly awestruck by the message, Mescal responded: ‘OMG is this a real thing?’

Last month, the screen star lost the coveted Best Actor Emmy prize to Mark Ruffalo, who won for his work in I Know This Much Is True.
After the ceremony, Paul’s family jokingly called him a ‘loser’ with his musician sister, Nell, 17, taking to her Instagram Story to share a hilarious screenshot of the Mescals FaceTiming the actor.
In the snap, the TV star’s mother was seen doing the ‘loser’ L-sign to her forehead while the rest of the relatives giggled. She captioned the screenshot: ‘We still love you.’
Normal People delighted the nation when it aired in April, with millions of viewers following the romance between Paul’s character Connell Waldron and Marianne Sheridan, played by Daisy Edgar-Jones.

Last Month, Mescal admitted that his co-star Daisy’s Emmy snub was ‘disappointing’, after soaring to fame during lockdown for the Sally Rooney novel adapted TV show.
Talking about his nomination and 22-year-old co-star Edgar-Jones’ snub, Mescal told Just Jared: ‘It’s disappointing because I would love to have shared that with her.’
Mescal also revealed that the first person he wanted to tell about his exciting Emmy nomination was his mother but he couldn’t get in touch.
He added: ‘I was trying to voice call everybody on a WhatsApp group, but nobody was picking up.
‘I think they were all kind of scared. When I got everybody on the call, it was pretty amazing. My brother who never cries was crying.’
