Sporty Spice declared she’ll ‘do everything in my power’ to ensure the group go on tour next year, but highlighted that there may be a delay as artists across the globe have had to postpone their performances due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The media personality said: ‘It would be rude not to. We had the most incredible year last year, playing stadiums and we have got to do it again. We talk about it all the time.

‘Of course this year has thrown everything into chaos, I think a lot of the big artists that were planning to perform this year will move to next year.

‘So sadly it probably will delay the Spice Girls getting back on stage, but I’m doing everything in my power to make that happen.’

The dancer also expressed her interest in creating a film about their history as she explained: ‘I think it’s the perfect time, really.

‘When you look back at last year, the nostalgia – so many people came to the shows and they were reliving their childhood.

‘I think the music and the story of the Spice Girls, the beginnings of it, everything that happened in between, I think it’s perfect subject matter for one of those movies.’

The DJ went on to discuss the group’s unique bond and the importance of girl power for the next generation.

‘We appreciate each other now more than ever’, she said. ‘We love each other and drive each other mad in equal measures, but we’re like family. It’s just one of those situations.

‘It’s amazing to see [girl power] evolving. My little girl is 11 and she is so sassy, got loads of girl power so that gives me lots of confidence for the future.’

Mel also spoke about her new eponymous album, which she described as ‘very positive’.

The songwriter shared: ‘Everything’s been going well in this weirdness and I just feel so lucky that 2019 was such a wonderful year for me.

‘It inspired me to make an album that feels very positive and it feels people are reacting very well to having that this year.

‘It’s something I’ve always been compelled to do and being back on stage with the Spice Girls last year gave me an amazing opportunity to be very reflective.

‘I just started to look back over my work, over my personal life and I just felt it was time to really celebrate all of my successes as well as looking at the things that have been difficult and that we’ve overcome.

Accounts for her touring company, Red Girl Media Ltd, reportedly show that she made a staggering £2.8million last year from their string of comeback gigs.

Last month, it was claimed that Spice Girls would be remaking their iconic 1996 Wannabe video to ring in their silver anniversary.

It is ‘exceedingly unlikely’ that fashion designer Victoria will involved, reports The Sun.

The source said: ‘The Spice Girls were hoping to hit the road in 2021 to mark their big anniversary but now it’s not possible because of the pandemic.

‘Mel C suggested doing something around Wannabe — including the idea of possibly re-working the video for social media.

‘There are so many options and nothing is off-limits. They want to give the fans something special.’

Wannabe was a huge hit for The Spice Girls and became their best-selling song after it was released in 1996.

The now iconic video was shot on the staircase of the former Midland Grand Hotel in St Pancras, London.
