Michelle Bridges says this year has been ‘a challenge’ after her split and drink driving charge

Michelle Bridges has admitted that the past year has been rather ‘challenging,’ following her drink driving charge and her split with Steve ‘Commando’ Willis.

The 49-year-old reflected on her life in a candid new interview with Who magazine, as she prepares to turn 50 next week.

The former Biggest Loser trainer said that while ‘we all make mistakes,’ she’s ‘moving on.’

‘It’s been a particularly challenging year for me, like it has been for everyone, but I’m moving on,’ Michelle said.

Seemingly referring to the drink driving charge, Michelle said that she learned about the ‘beauty of people,’ after receiving support from family, friends and ‘strangers.’

‘The compassion and empathy I was afforded is something I’ll never forget,’ Michelle said.

Outside court, a tearful Michelle said: ‘I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep remorse, shame and humiliation [over] this incident and extreme lack of judgment.

‘I would like to apologise to my family, friends and community for this gross error in judgment and the consequences of these actions will haunt me forever.’

In March, Michelle told The Daily Telegraph’s Stellar magazine that the last two months had ‘been the hardest two months’ of her life, ‘without question’.

The cookbook author revealed how she had made a poor decision – drinking with girlfriends at night to nurse a broken heart following her split from Steve, before taking son Axel to the beach the following morning.

Michelle went on to say that she accepts responsibility for her actions and the outcome.

She said: ‘I’ve made an incredibly huge mistake and I’m utterly remorseful for it. And I have to live with that. I definitely do not think I’m special.’

The TV personality added that she has been leaning on the support of friends and family, and has learned that she’s ‘strong’ and can accept help from others.
