Julia stars as Anna Delvey, a Russian-born con artist who adopted the persona of a German heiress and scammed her wealthy friends into paying for her lavish trips and countless expenses.

Anna is playing Vivian, a journalist investigating the fake heiress, though it’s unclear if her character is inspired by New York Magazine’s Jessica Pressler, who wrote How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People, the article the miniseries is based on.

Laverne Cox was also on set to play the personal trainer and life coach Kacy Duke, who gets involved in Delvy’s orbit but is smart enough to stay out of her schemes.

Alexis, who plays an aspiring filmmaker and concierge in the series, was seen on set in another outfit.

She wore a brown leopard print sweater with a long red scarf, a yellow overcoat, dark jeans and beige boots.

Her character is also involved in Anna scandal, though she sees through the fraudster.

The Netflix limited series is the first show to be created by Shonda Rhimes since Scandal.

Inventing Anna will also reunite her with one of her Scandal stars, Katie Lowes.

Deadline previously reported that Rhimes would be writing the series, while David Frankel, who directed The Devil Wears Prada, would direct two episodes, including the premiere.

Inventing Anna is only one of the eight scripted and documentary shows that Rhimes will be producing for Netflix, which were announced in July 2018.
