Will she walk free? EastEnders’ Whitney Dean is finally set to learn her fate in court on Thursday, with first look snaps offering a glimpse of Sonia’s stunned reaction
Whitney (played by Shona McGarty) murdered her stalker Leo (Tom Wells) after being held hostage by his mum Michaela, but struggling with the guilt immediately confessed to police.
She’s had her fair share of challenges since the trail, with her lawyer Gray Atkins (Toby Alexander-Smith) making things worse with a furious outburst in court, as he also struggles with the guilt of killing his own wife Chantelle (Jessica Plummer).
Tuesday’s episode then saw her QC come down with food poisoning, leading Gray to step in at the last minute with a closing statement.

He strongly defended her decision by insisting Whitney was the victim of Leo’s horrific stalking and harassment.
But it became clear that at many points Gray was struggling to differentiate between Leo and himself.
He declared: ‘She was literally fighting for her life and you, all of you, are you really going to punish her all over again, for what?
‘Defending herself? Loving the wrong man? Kindness? How is that right?
‘How many more times are we going to stand by while a woman’s life is ruined because she loved an abuser?
As the jury deliver their verdict fans will have to wait and see whether Whitney will walk free, with Sonia’s (Natalie Cassidy) shocked reaction giving little away.
Whitney had originally planned to plead guilty for Leo’s murder, but at the last minute changed her plea, leading to the lengthy trial.
Gray also appeared to consider handing himself into police at the last minute, as fans continue to demand he get his comeuppance for killing Chantelle after months of abuse.
