Michael Clarke’s dignified response to estranged wife Kyly’s new romance 

Michael Clarke shared an Instagram post about the importance of family on Thursday evening, just as news was breaking about his estranged wife Kyly’s new relationship.

The former Australian cricket captain, 39, uploaded a photo of himself cuddling his four-year-old daughter, Kelsey Lee, alongside the caption: ‘Date night ❤️.’

He posted the image at 7pm, which coincidentally was about the same time The Daily Telegraph published its report about Kyly Clarke’s blossoming romance with Supercars driver James Courtney.

Daily Mail Australia is not suggesting Michael’s post was in response to The Daily Telegraph’s article, and it was likely just a coincidence that they were uploaded online at about the same time.

The exes have been nothing but supportive of each other since their break-up, and Michael insists he has a ‘wonderful relationship and friendship’ with Kyly.

The Clarkes quietly split in September 2019 after seven years of marriage, but did not announce their separation until five months later, in February.

Despite being in the midst of a divorce said to be worth $40million, the former couple are believed to be on amicable terms as they co-parent their daughter.

Michael has long since moved on from his failed marriage, and is now dating fashion designer and P.E Nation co-founder Pip Edwards.

The retired batsman started dating Pip, with whom he’d been friends for more than a decade, after separating from Kyly late last year.

They denied their romance for months, insisting they were just friends, but eventually went public in July while on a family holiday in Noosa, Queensland.

Also on Thursday evening, Pip shared a fairly innocuous photo of herself trying on a Louis Vuitton dress. She did not reference Kyly’s new relationship in any way.

Kyly, a 39-year-old former model, was reportedly spotted kissing race car driver James Courtney, 40, trackside in Bathurst on Thursday.

‘It is early days but they are very happy,’ a source told The Daily Telegraph. 

According to the publication, Kyly and James first dated two decades ago, after meeting through friends and family. 

They also apparently knew each other as children.

‘Kyly loves motorsports, it is something she has been passionate about since childhood,’ the insider said.

‘They just clicked when they reconnected and everything is going well. It is like a fairytale because they were together all those years ago so it has come full circle.’

The pair apparently got back in contact recently via social media, after the demise of Kyly’s marriage.

In a series of Instagram Stories on Thursday, Kyly shared photos and videos from Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit in Bathurst, ahead of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 this weekend. James is competing in the race.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Kyly’s management for comment.

James went through very public split from his ex-wife of 16 years, Carys, after the New Zealand leg of the 2017 V8 Supercars season.

He was apparently blindsided to discover Carys had moved on with millionaire and former Bachelorette star Stu Laundy.

‘No one wants to see an ex with someone else, especially like that and in the news,’ he said at the time.

Carys and Stu ended up splitting in January 2018.
